The Olivia Chapeau

I'm a few days late in posting this, but I wanted to show the hat I whipped up the night before leaving town for the holidays. I'm calling it the Olivia Chapeau, after my daughter.
I decided it needed to be a little French, too. :)

I must admit, this one was really fun to make! What do you think?

New hat in the works...

I'm gearing up for a visit home (to Oklahoma) in just two days. I've had the idea for a little hat in my noggin' for over a week, now, and it's finally starting to take shape. I've finished the base of the boys' version, but I'm still working the kinks out on the details. The girls' version will be slightly different, yet the same. These will be available, hopefully :) , in two sizes: Infant and Toddler.

You see, I'm not really working with a pattern. I've taken ideas from different hats, and merged them into one. For the details, I'm making it all up as I go. It's a good thing I'm writing it all down, too, because I have a terrible memory! :)

Wish me luck!

P.S. I should have pix ready sometime within a day or two of Christmas, if all goes well. I want to premiere them on the babies, instead of just pictures of the hats themselves.

A little something for myself, for a change

I decided to make something for myself tonight. I never do this, and it felt good! I knew I needed something to carry my crochet hooks in, and I also knew I had some leftover fabric from the kitchen curtains I had previously sewn.

So...I merged the two together and VOILA! Instant carrying case! I love it! And I'm proud of myself for whipping it up so quickly with just an idea in my head and a short time to do it!

The hat is finished??? Oh brother.

The hat is finished, but it needs a revamp. I followed the pattern to a T, but the hat is too tall! I'm thinking it would only look good on a conehead baby. Although I don't typically toot my own horn, I'm really impressed with how it looks, BUT I'm not happy with the shape.

So.....I'm off to search for a different pattern for the base of the hat. I'll make the necessary changes with the pattern so that it will look like I want it to look. Don't give up on me! If you give up, I'll give up, and then we will have gotten nowhere! :)

Stay tuned....

SUPER CUTE New hat in the works

I started my first-ever crocheted hat last night. Its main color is Orchid, and it's going to be soooo cute! I'm making it for my little one, but I may decide to sell them, too. There's a boy version, and I can't wait to finish this one so that I can start on it!

I guess crocheting is my new-found obsession. I couldn't barely put it down last night! I bypassed so many other tasks around the house because of this hat. But I figure, it they'll all still be there when I finish!

Here's a preview:

Night two.....not so much

I knew not to get my hopes up on the baby sleeping all night again. I'm glad I was prepared for that. She squirmed and cried until I couldn't take any more, so I took her out of her crib. The downside? I slept horribly. But I'm not going to let it ruin my day! Christmas is almost here, and that always puts me in a cheery mood.

I've got much to look forward to in the coming weeks: cooking, baking, crocheting and new products to create! For now, I'm off to the Post Office to mail out yesterday's tutu. I think I'll even cheat a little and get some Taco Bell. Yum! A few more stops, and then I'll be headed home.

What am I going to look forward to after Christmas? ........Oh brother.

Tonight's tutu is finished :)

I've discovered something. I almost remember what it was like to have a full nights sleep! As I already posted, last night my baby slept for the entire night for the first time!!! Today I even got in a cat nap. Apparently, eight hours wasn't enough for me.

All that extra sleep really got me motivated. Here are a couple pictures of the Christmas tutu I finished tonight for JW. Let's hope her little one enjoys it!

A full? night of sleep

My 4 1/2 month old (who is breastfed) slept through the night for 8 1/2 hours last night!!! I woke up twice, worried about her, since I hadn't heard her cry. The first time, I told myself she was fine and to stay in bed. The second time, I just had to get up to check on her.

I have become one of those mothers who worries so much that I needed to see if she was still breathing! Needless to say, she was fine. I even stayed in bed an extra half hour than I really wanted to, just to see how long she'd sleep. I didn't want to wake her. She's in her own crib, in her own room, yet she can hear a pin drop!

Now that I'm rested, I feel so relaxed today. I've showered, and am getting ready to start lunch. The hubby had leftover meatloaf and I'll find something in the fridge to satisfy my grumbling tummy! Perhaps last night's sleep will help motivate me to work on some of the new products I've been cooking up in my little noggin'.

Wish me luck!
Off to attempt a nap while the baby sleeps. This is mainly to test the mobile blogging. Goodnight!
