LuckyLu Creations Review {Plus a giveaway!}

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some products from LuckyLu Creations.

LuckyLu Creations offers beautiful handmade greeting cards, invitations, cupcake toppers, banners, party favor tags and more. They also offer personalized product tags, iron on fabric tags, sew on fabric tags, mini thank you cards and logo stickers. LuckyLu Creations uses CPSIA complaint materials for their fabric labels. All items found at LuckyLu Creations are made in a smoke-free home.

I was ecstatic when Kara Dowling, owner of LuckyLu Creations, offered to let me review some of the products she sells. She sent a great selection of items that included a 15 pack set of Hand Colored and Glittered Cupcake Tags, sew on fabric labels displaying my company logo, and foldover fabric labels displaying my company logo. Since my primary business is running a crochet shop, Sugar Mama's Sweet Bowtique, I have wanted to try out fabric labels for my products for quite some time!

The tags arrived in a cute, individual plastic bag with the LuckyLu Creations logo sticker on front. This sticker is an adorable example of the logo stickers she makes custom for any company. The labels arrived safely wrapped in a manila envelope, ready for use! I was stoked!

The Glittery Cupcake Tags were sent as a pack of 15, with five fun cupcake designs. The back of the tags say "To:" and "From:" with plenty of space for you to write in the lucky recipient's name. The front of the tags display super cute cupcakes that Kara has taken the time to hand color and hand glitter. That's right...she does it ALL by hand! I can only imagine the amount of time this takes, especially since the tags are immaculate! They are made of such nice quality paper. They are not at all flimsy. And they hang from fun lengths of baker's twine, adding to their charm.

My new fabric labels printed out beautifully. Like I said before, I have wanted labels for quite a long time, but didn't know where to purchase them. And seeing how most of the companies I had researched only offer labels in large quantities, I wasn't ready to purchase something without really knowing how they would turn out. Having a sample in my hands really helps me make my decision. I will be buying my labels from LuckyLu Creations from now on.

 I was given TEN sizing options, which I thought was incredible. All I had to do was figure out how large or small I wanted my labels to be. Below is a list Kara gave me of all the size options for the labels. Kara writes, "Here's an estimate of how many labels fit per sheet, this number is subject to change based on the seam allowance you prefer. Other sizes are available, please just ask. Fold-over labels are the same price, however the quantity will be cut in half to account for the extra fabric needed for the other half of label. The quantity per sheet may change slightly depending on the amount of seam allowance you prefer.

20 labels 2 x 2 in size
28 labels 2 x 1.5 in size
30 labels 1.5 x 1.5 in size
32 labels 1.75 x 1.25 in size
30 labels 2 x 1 in size
48 labels 1.25 x 1.25 in size
50 labels 1.5 x 1 in size
65 labels 1.5 x 0.75 in size
80 labels 1 x 1 in size
80 labels 1.5 x 0.50 in size"

For both the regular and foldover sew-ons, I chose to go with the 1.5" x 0.75" size with a 1/4" seam allowance. After grabbing my measuring tape, I visualized these to be around the size I wanted. I was worried anything smaller might not be large enough to read. My fears were unfounded though, as the labels are extremely high quality and completely legible, and would probably be fine even a little smaller. The mind-blowing fact is that they are only $10 per sheet! So for the amount of regular labels that fit with my logo at the chosen size, they end up only $0.25 cents per label, and only $0.42 cents per foldover label! So worth it! And Kara sells these by the sheet, instead of in huge batch requirements.

As I'm terrible at cutting a straight line, I enlisted my trusty rotary cutter and cutting mat for the job. The labels were easy to cut, as the fabric is the perfect stiffness to cut cleanly. I folded my labels, ironed them on a low heat setting for a clean look, and went to sewing them on by hand with a needle and thread.

I knew the first item I would label would be one of my daughter's favorite hats. I love this pink hat on her, and think it is so neat that I can now label the kids' items with anything I dream up. I'm actually thinking of having Kara print some labels that say, "Made by Mom," or "Crocheted with Love by Amanda." How fun is it that I can make all types of homemade clothing and accessories for my kids, and have them labeled forever! These labels turn my handmade items into even more cherished keepsakes.

The result? My daughter's hat is now tagged! I absolutely love how it turned out! I can't quit looking at it and thinking about how this label tells the world that I made this hat. The final step to consider is laundering. Kara gave me specific instructions for washing items that are donned with my new labels. She let me know that she has done a colorfast treatment on the labels. The fabric company instructs using caution with detergent, and that it is best to hand wash the labels. This works out fine for me. Since my items are crocheted, I always suggest handwashing my items.

Kara said that in her experience of working with and selling the labels, she hasn't had any personal issues with using detergent on them, but that machine washing should be done on the gentle cycle. Although, she doesn't recommend using a heavy duty cycle, with vigorous or heavy agitation, as this could affect the design printed on the labels. I absolutely love my new labels and plan to purchase more in the future from LuckyLu Creations. Check out some of my other favorite items, found in Kara's Etsy shop.

The Supergirl Mini Lunchbox Notes - Surprise your little girl in style!

The Personalized Football Favor Tags - Add style to your football kick-off party!

The Princess and the Frog Happy Birthday Greeting Card - The attention to detail is amazing!

Kara was a joy to work with. She took so much time making absolutely sure that my labels were perfect. Kara considers herself a perfectionist, and it couldn't be more apparent in her work. Her handwork is beautiful and extremely detailed. She offers a unique one-on-one shopping experience, and her prices can't be beat! Please check out her shop for all that she offers, because I know you'll think the same!

Here, Kara tells us a little bit about herself.
"I am a Southern California transplant, now living in Maine, and am a mother of two little ones.  My husband and I also own an Indoor Children's Play Center, so busy is an understatement, but I love what we do.  I have been scrapbooking for as long as I can remember, and have always made my own cards.  I finally decided to start selling them 3 years ago and the rest is history.  Last year, I added Fabric Labels to my shop, and they became hugely popular.  Part of the reason is because of my biggest order yet, for 1000 labels that were added to items in the Emmy Award gift bags.  Pretty neat!  My labels are popping up everywhere (most recently on a baby blanket for Snooki's new bundle of joy, from "Jersey Shore")  And my paper-based items have quite the history, too.  Most recently my popcorn tags were added to the MTV Movie Award Swag Bags.  I love custom orders and making party decorations, too!"

Bear Haven Boutique Review {Plus a giveaway!}

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some products from Bear Haven Boutique.

Bear Haven Boutique offers great products, such as stuffable plush kits, unique toys, gifts, clothing and accessories, all at great prices. They also offer party supplies, baby shower gifts and personalized items. Bear Haven Boutique is located in Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania.

I was so excited when Lesa Rumbalski, owner of Bear Haven Boutique, offered to let me review some of the products she sells. I have a daughter and a son, so Lesa sent some products that are perfect for them! We recieved two stuffable animal kits, each with an outfit to wear!

Lesa describes her stuffable animal kits like this, "My stuffable animal kits include everything you need to make your own stuffed animal. You get the stuffable animal skin, the fluff (or as my daughter calls it, 'fluffin'), the 'wish insert' which is usually a star or a heart, and a birth certificate so that you can name your new pal. You also receive a reusable tote which you can decorate for your new pal or use for library books or to carry special items!
In addition to the stuffable animals, I also carry stuffable dolls and outfits for all of the stuffable friends. I also carry clothing for American Girl dolls and a unique selection of educational toys and fun boutique gifts."

The first animal we opened up was Cottonball the Bunny Rabbit (16"), a perfect present for my daughter. Cottonball came with a fun, Pink "Winter Wonderland" Outfit (16"), complete with earmuffs and a "Love" red star wish insert! There was an instruction sheet, with detailed infomation on how to create our new friend and a blank certificate, celebrating the adoption of our new bunny friend.

The pink outfit fit her perfectly after being stuffed. The back of the dress is a simple velcro closure system, making it easy for my daughter to remove it if she likes. Bear Haven Boutique offers a ton of great clothing to fit the stuffable animals they sell. My daughter loved stuffing the bunny, and I thought adding the red "Love" star wish insert was a cute touch. My little girl also loved the reusable tote bag, as she is really into carrying around purses.

My son's new animal was next. This adorable Bull Dog (15") came with a "Bear Sox" Baseball Outfit (16"), a "Courage" blue star wish insert and his own pet adoption certificate. The animals are so easy and fun to stuff. The kits even come with all the stuffing you need. You simply stuff, stuff, stuff the filling into your pet from the back, cinch up the stuffing pocket, close the velcro strips together and voila, you're done!

The last step is to fill out the certificate. My kids will have their pet adoption certificates to look back on for a fun keepsake. It even brings back fond memories of owning Cabbage Patch Kids when I was little. They're able to name their new friend, add the date and place where they "first met," write in their own name as the new "best friend," and write why the new animal pet is special to them.

We had a blast making our new stuffed buddies! The quality of the animals is top notch. I can see these as really wonderful birthday party activities for kids. And not only would they provide a party activity, they would also serve as a parting gift for attendees. I fully recommend Bear Haven Boutique products to all of my family, friends and readers. If you are in the market for fun party gifts and accessories, Bear Haven Boutique has great stuff at even better prices. Check out some of my other favorite items, found at Bear Haven Boutique's website.

The Personalized Zebra/Hot Pink Birthday Hat - Customized with age, name and thread color of choice!

The Dinosaur Excavation Kits: Triceratops OR T-Rex - I can only imagine the fun kids would get out of these, especially at a birthday party!
The 18" doll Party Dress - Fits perfectly on American Girl dolls!

Lesa's products are fun and creative! You can find some great party gifts and activities at Bear Haven Boutique. Please check out her website for all that she offers! Plus, this is a great time to take advantage of a special coupon code, 5kgiveaway, good for 15% off between now and Sept 15, 2012, for all Sugar Mama's Sweet Bowtique fans! And check out Lesa's blog for fun party-planning ideas, giveaways and much more!

Here, Lesa tells us a little bit about herself.
"I started Bear Haven Boutique five years ago as a way to make a little extra money while staying home with my children. Since then, I have been building an online presence and now also a local presence in my community. While I specialize in children's parties, my collection of unique toys and gifts has become an important part of my business as well!
My goal is to provide parents a way to have an awesome party without breaking a budget. For those that are local, I work with budgets and ideas to plan the best party possible. For those far away, I show them how to plan an awesome party on my blog using products from my online store.
I love getting to be a big kid, and of course, my kids like that too! I also like being able to help make a child's day extra special!"

Profoot Review {Plus a giveaway!}

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some products from Profoot.

Profoot is the leading brand in footcare products. Their product line so extensive that it covers everything from pain relief, anti-fungal cures, various insoles, dry/cracked skin relief, corn wraps and so much more. Profoot's products are sold in over 20 countries on six continents.

I was really delighted when Pam Cress, Marketing VP for Profoot, offered to let me review some of the products she represents. As a mom to a 2-year-old and a newborn, I knew that anything she sent would be a god-send for my tired feet. With only so much time in my day to be a mommy, wife, homemaker, business owner and blogger, there leaves little time to take care of me, much less to pamper my aching feet.

Profoot sent me a package of items that included The 2 oz. Miracle® Custom Molding Insoles for Women, Women's Plantar Fasciitis orthotics and Velvetex™ Moleskin.

The first things I checked out were The 2 oz. Miracle® Custom Molding Insoles. Pam let me know that these insoles are, "3x lighter than comparable gel insoles, which can add up to a 1/2 pound of weight to your shoes. Profoot 2 oz Miracle® Insoles feature Vita-foam technology, for custom molded support, and added shock absorption." After reading up on the insoles, I also found out that they are made of two layers. The bottom layer provides shock absorption and support, while the top layer is made of a futuristic memory foam.

Profoot's website claims that within an hour, the insoles will mold to the shape of your feet, just like custom orthotics. Their lightweight design causes less fatigue, and they help to reduce friction, or what they call "that burning feeling." A great thing about the insoles is that they have contoured lines on the back, representing women's shoe sizes 6 through 10. You simply cut along the line that matches your shoe size, insert them into your shoes, and enjoy the comfort.

I first used these before leaving for a long day of shopping. Foot comfort is a total necessity on a full day of walking. I cut the insoles with a simple pair of scissors, as they really are light and thin enough to cut with no problem. After wearing them around to my first stop on my day of shopping, I had forgotten they were there! I noticed them in the beginning, only because it was a foreign object under my feet. But then they had practically melted away! These inserts have given me so much comfort that I'm ready to buy them for every pair of shoes I own. And since they retail at just around $5.00-$7.00 per pair, I can totally afford to do so!

Next, I tried out the Plantar Fasciitis orthotics. Profoot's Plantar Fasciitis Orthotics is their newest product, which debuted this year. These orthotics are clinically proven to help relieve heel pain associated with plantar fasciitis. They are made of three parts: (1) a deep heel cup that provides support and distributes your weight as you move, (2) a firm arch that supports the plantar fascia and transfers pressure off your heels, and (3) a gel heel insert that gives extra protection while offering shock absorption. They are accepted by the American Podiatric Medical Assn.

The inserts are so comfortable, but are also very supportive. They take so much pressure off my heels, which used to cause an achy feeling in my feet by the end of every night. Not having that heel pain has also helped me to sleep better, since I'm more relaxed. If you get the chance to try them out, you should definately take the time to check out the free pain relief exercise guide, included in every package. I must say that this is easily the best $7.00-$10.00 you could spent on your feet.

Finally, I tried out the Velvetex™ Moleskin. The package includes two sheets that measure 3.25" x 5". All you have to do is cut a piece from the sheet to cover any sore or painful areas on your feet. The moleskin provides a soft cushion for even your most tender spots. Pam told me that Profoot Velvetex™ Moleskin is, "loved by runners," and that it, "is the softest moleskin that you can buy."

I can't count how many times I've had to shelf a favorite pair of shoes after it has cut into my heel or rubbed my toes raw. This moleskin is amazing! Not only does it blend in slightly with my skin tone, but it has let me wear my favorite, albeit painful, shoes again! I can't believe this stuff only runs about $3.00-$5.00, because it's wonderful.

Profoot offers products to help fix your foot-related problems, without draining your wallet! Most of their products retail for less than $10, but offer priceless comfort and relief for your feet. And Profoot offers this satisfaction guarantee: "We're confident that you'll love your PROFOOT products. If you are not satisfied for any reason, please return your PROFOOT product for refund or replacement." You can purchase Profoot products at Walmart, Walgreens, CVS and Rite Aid as well as on-line at Amazon.com and Drugstore.com. Keep checking their site for special offers, like coupons for products.

Here, Pam tells us a little bit about Profoot.

"Profoot was founded in 1987 by Dr. Leonard Feldman, a chiropractor and entrepreneur.  The company is still family owned and operated in Brooklyn NY.  Profoot is known as the innovator in the footcare category.  We are proud of the team of podiatrists, orthopedists and bio-mechanical engineers we consult with to design products.  While we try to create items that are unique, we also want them to be affordable.  The majority of the company's products retail for less than $10, making them the best foot care values in the market."

Stargazinglily Review {Plus a giveaway!}

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some products from Stargazinglily.

Stargazinglily offers handmade, handstrung bracelets and accessories. You can find anything from matching "Me and My Doll" bracelets, to ponytail streamers and much more, all personalized just for you! You simply choose from the available options such as size, colors and name personalization, then sit back and let Stargazinglily create something perfect for you.

I was so excited when Kristin Roof, owner of Stargazinglily, offered to let me review some of her newest products. She offered to send me a Mickey and Minnie Mouse inspired bracelet for each of my kids and my niece!

The package arrived all wrapped up in fun, glittery tissue paper, with a cute Stargazinglily sticker to keep it closed. Packaging means a lot to me, especially when purchasing gifts for my loved ones. I like knowing that the item I send to them will show up looking great before they even open it.

Inside the tissue paper was even more packaging goodness! Kristin takes the time to individually place each separate item in a color-coordinating bag! Talk about attention to detail! Just imagine how special a recipient feels getting something that looks like this. I know I did. And can I please mention how adorable the tiny, yellow bag is?!? This one contained my newborn son's Mickey Mouse inspired bracelet.

Stargazinglily offers their Minnie Mouse inspired bracelets in both pink and red color options. I chose the pink option for my niece, Emyri, as her mommy loves pink. I have since found out from a recent visit that Emyri has a Minnie Mouse toy, dressed in a pink outfit! Yay! I chose the classic red version for my daughter, Olivia. And for my son, Trevor, we received the Mickey Mouse inspired bracelet.

Kristin does her sizing by the age of the child, through an average size per age system. If you have any concerns, you could also give her an exact measurement. I gave her the ages of my children, adding two years to each, for the sizing info. I asked for larger bracelets (two years larger), since I'd like to take them to Disney World in a couple years, and want these to fit them by then. I cannot WAIT to take them there, wearing these adorable bracelets! For Emyri, I asked for a size that will fit a one year old. This is part of her Christmas present, and she'll be nearly a year old by then. (I hope they aren't reading this post!!!)

Here are some closeups of the bracelets, taken directly from Stargazinglily:

Notice how she has handmade the mouse beads from fimo clay. They even have matching pink or red hair bows, with hand painted white polka dots! SO Minnie!

 This one is adorned with red, black, yellow and white beads. For a bracelet, I must say this one is very boyish! Kristin also handmakes the mouse beads with fimo clay, while hand painting them to look like Mickey's white-buttoned, red pants. Adorbs!

Check out the other bracelets I have ordered from Stargazinglily in the past, easily found in her Etsy shop.

The Mommy Bracelet with Trio of Wood Beads - Below is the actual bracelet I ordered after having my first child! I wanted three strands, so I had her turn it into a "family" bracelet, representing my husband, daughter and me.

The Sweet Summer Strawberry Charm Bracelets - I sent two of these cuties to my nieces last Christmas!

The Ballerina Charm Bracelet - The first Stargazinglily bracelet we owned: A special keepsake from my daughter's first birthday party!

Kristin offers such adorable accessories at unbelieveable prices! Please check out her Etsy shop for all that she offers. Of the now seven Stargazinglily bracelets we own throughout our family, each one is special and unique. I'm a huge fan of Stargazinglily's products, and look forward to what the future brings for Kristin's company!

Here, Kristin tells us a little bit about her creation process.

"I only purchase quality beads through many bead suppliers and make my own mixes. I enjoy custom orders as my customers are full of great ideas. My burnished wood pieces are done by free hand. I don't burn the letters or images with stencils or stamps. Everything is done one at a time, made per order and freehand. All clay pieces are also hand made. Each one is a one of a kind as I don't use any moulds."

Foxy Baby Boutique Review {Plus a giveaway!}

Recently, I was given the opportunity to sample some products from Foxy Baby Boutique.
Foxy Baby Boutique offers great items like made hair bows, bow holders, hair clips, fairy wands, tutu's and head bands, all at reasonable prices.

I was excited when Korinn Fox, owner of Foxy Baby Boutique, offered to let me review some of the products she sells. I have a very girly two-year-old daughter, with an abundance of hair and a bow collection to match. So any time I have the opportunity to add to her bow collection, I'm all about it!

The items she sent included one of her new fairy wands, a fun fleur-de-lis hair bow and two argyle ribbon-lined clippies. It's a cute handmade package, well made, and priced at $20 for everything.

I knew the fairy wand would be a real hit with my daughter. According to Korinn, "The fairy wands I make are so much nicer than the plastic ones sold in stores. The wand is made of wood and is covered with ribbon." The wand is made of a puff of tulle atop a dowel rod that is lined in ribbon. Two corkscrew ribbon lengths and two pearly strands dangle from the tulle. Korinn has put much effort into making this a quality product.

Although the wand is fun and whimsical for any princess-loving child, I do recommend these fairy wands for older children. As a mom, I must put out a fair warning that the pearly strands could pose a choking hazard for younger children and babies. At the age of two, my daughter will be allowed to play with her wand only under my supervision.

The hair bow she sent is simply adorable. The ribbon is pink with a black fleur-de-lis pattern printed on it. The bow is attached to an alligator clip, proven to be perfect for most any application, whether it be holding the hair out of my daughter's face, glamming up her ponytail, or clipping it to a cute hat.

The clippies set consists of two alligator clips, lined with pink and black argyle ribbon. They go right along with the above hair bow in color and style. I found no issue of glue globs or fraying ribbon ends with any of her products, as she takes the time to heat seal all ribbon ends. This is an important step when making hair bows, as I have lost a few favorite hair accessories to unfortunate frayed ends.

All the items Korinn sent me were made by hand, and made well. It is obvious that Korinn puts a lot of time and love into her work. She handmakes every item she sells, and takes the necessary steps to ensure they will last. Check out some of the other items found on her Facebook page.

The Fairy Wand in action!

The Cranberry Bow - Classic and cute!

The Halloween Korker - Fun and festive!

Please check out Foxy Baby Boutique, and tell her Sugar Mama sent you!

Here, Korinn tells us a little bit about herself.
"I am a mother of two little girls and I started this in 2009 when my first daughter was born and I could not find cute accessories in the mainstream stores. So I sat down and started making my own. Once I started, I fell in love with making them and all the endless possibilities of colors and styles. I had many people ask me about the bows I made for my girls and started making them for others and Foxy Baby Boutique was born."
