Today, I want to share with you an easy tutorial for making cute bunny masks. They're fun and adorable. They're perfect for Easter, too!
You need only a few basic supplies to make these masks. And in minutes, your kiddos will be enjoying them. These will be going in our Easter baskets, next weekend. I also included adult sizes with the pattern. I think they would be so fun for all the family to wear in photos.
Let's get started.
WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS PROJECT:
* My Bunny Mask Pattern
* A small amount of felt in 2 or 3 colors.
* Black Cotton Yarn
* Scissors
* Thin elastic {I used Dritz brand Braided Elastic, 1/4" size}
* Sewing machine OR Needle & Thread
First, start out by printing my Bunny Mask Pattern. You can download it here, in my Craftsy shop, for FREE. Cut out the appropriate amount of pieces, in either child or adult sizes.
You'll need (2) face pieces, (1) nose piece and (1) teeth piece for each mask. Cut (10) 2.5" pieces of black cotton yarn for whiskers. Cut (1) 16.5" piece of elastic for a child size mask OR a 17.5" piece of elastic for an adult size mask.
On the FRONT MASK ONLY, cut the slits on each side for inserting the whiskers.
Insert the yarn 1/2" through the slits on the front face piece. Fan them out as you like, then pin them how you like them. This photo shows the back side of the grey bunny and the front side of the white bunny.
Sew across the whiskers, close to the slit. Go back and forth several times to ensure they are sewn down well.
Pin your teeth to the back side of the front face piece of your mask. Use the dashed lines from the pattern for help with placement. Make sure that the pins are on the front, so that they don't get stuck inside when you sew the face pieces together.
Sew around the mask using a 1/8" seam allowance, making sure to backstitch at the beginning and the end, to keep it secure. NOTE: Make sure to move the yarn whiskers aside, so that you don't sew over them. You can even play around with different colored thread if you like. Also, you can leave the bottom of the teeth straight, like the grey bunny. Or cut an upside down V in them, like the white bunny.
Using the photo as a reference for placement, pin the nose to the front of the mask. Sew the nose to the mask using an 1/8" seam allowance, making sure to backstitch at the beginning and the end.
Use the pointy end of your scissors or a craft knife to make the holes for the elastic. Use the pattern for help with placement.
Tie a knot on one end of your elastic. Starting from front to back, thread your elastic through one hole.
Then, from back to front, thread through the other side. Knot the other end of your elastic. If you are concerned with the knots coming undone, you can use a lighter to quickly melt the elastic ends.
And....you're finished! Wasn't that fun, quick and easy!? Plus, they're adorable!!!
I hope you love the project, and please try it! I promise you won't be
disappointed! And as always, if you want to share a project you have made using
this tutorial, I'd love to see it! You can email me photos at

Happy Creating!
